Core Principles

iPEC Coaching Core Principles on Health and Aging

  1. Life is a journey, not a destination- Realizing that life is always changing and does go on, and is a series of powerful experiences that help us discover and remember who we are. Every part of the journey is significant, with its own unique joys and challenges. And the journey never ends!

  2. Thou shalt not judge- People so often judge themselves to be imperfect by the world's standards. This type of judgement is especially true within the areas of health and aging. Connect with your inner power to experience the greatness of who you are beyond the image you see in the mirror.

  3. You know the answer- Be empowered by being encouraged to learn about and investigate the best options regarding what actions to take to find your own personal solutions.

  4. The only constant is change- Perhaps bodily changes can be related to different seasons in nature-- and we can experience and appreciate the different "seasons" within ourselves. There are unique opportunities in these changing seasons of life that will empower us to embrace and enjoy each season and live it to its fullest.

  5. We are greater than who we appear to be- The physical body is only a part of who we are. When we feel the sense of connection to something greater, we do not feel quite as limited to body only. Remember that life is subjective, and the things that truly matter are abundantly available to everyone.

  6. We are not the spoke, nor a group of many spokes; we are the wheel- Many times people in the elder populations or those with health challenges feel disconnected with life. Remember that the Universe has not suddenly stopped supporting you because you are at a latter point in the life cycle or that you are ill. We are always part of an incredible process that is always purposeful, even when it does not appear so in our outer circumstances. (See below scriptures)

  7. A purpose can be found in everything that happens- Finding the purpose for and the lesson to be learned in any challenging situation of life is really thinking out of the box! Creating steppingstones out of stumbling blocks empowers and assists us in finding peace and feeling hope. Sometimes "illness" can be purposeful, but when that purpose is served, the illness may then be "released" and one can be "healthy" again.

  8. Now is all there ever is- So often those who are not satisfied with their physical self live in the past of the "good old days," or the future of "what could be." Let's focus less on what was or what could be, rather living each day to its fullest, to be alive and here right now. Take advantage of the gift of today-- that is why it is called the "present."

  9. Pain is inevitable; suffering is optional- Pain is a purposeful part of the human drama, or it would not be here. Understand that you have a choice as to how you experience the pain. How you view the pain determines your experience of it.

  10. We either grow or we die- Stagnation, or "death" can occur at any point of a person's life, irrespective of one's age or health experience. Regardless of where you are on your life's journey, there is always more to learn, experience, express, expand, enjoy, and remember. (iPEC Coaching)

Aging In The Bible

Aging in the Bible is said to be a sign of experience. The Lord promises his continued love and concern for the elderly. "I will be your God throughout your lifetime- until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you. Isiah 46:3&4. Other scriptures that support and offer encouragement for our aging journey:

Philippians 1:6

Ruth 4:15

2nd Corinthians 4:16

Job 12:12

Psalm 37:25, Psalm 103:5

1st Kings 3:14
