FIRST AFRICAN FREEDOM CHURCH

Clarence Glover has extensive experience in cultural diversity policy review and development in higher education, public schools and public agencies.  A recognized leader in the field of African-American culture and education he is committed to ensuring that homes, schools, public and private agencies create and sustain educational environments that successfully educate African-American students.  Through data and researched based strategies he provides culturally relevant training for parents, religious leaders, and educators of African-American students.

Clarence has a Bachelor of Arts in History from Grambling State University, a Master of Theological Studies from Perkins School of Theology, and is a graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Education with a certification in Moral Education and Human Development presented to him by Dr. Lawrence Kohlberg.

 

He served as Advisor to Black Students and Director of Intercultural Relations and Minority Students and was Adjunct Professor of African-American Studies at Southern Methodist University. While at SMU he developed major intercultural programs and African-American cultural programs that are still a part of the university community.

Clarence later became Special Assistant to the General Superintendent for Intercultural Relations and was also Executive Director of Multicultural Education.   His development of the “Educating One Race; Many Cultures” district wide campaign help to expand the district’s commitment to multicultural education through the text book adoption process, curriculum development, and professional development and staff training.

 

The foundation of Clarence’s work at SMU and Dallas ISD was built on the review and implementation of institutional policies and practices that impacted the multicultural environments of both.   He now brings this knowledge to Sankofa Education Services to assist institutions in being engaging multicultural environments that support the academic success of African-American students.
